The Finale

So this is going to be a sort of "Year in Review" so if you're looking for tons of pictures you're probably going to be disappointed because this is mostly text.
The year began with a sort or review, re-learning the modeling program Solidworks and some new program called Mastercam, which looks something like this...
Needless to say, nothing major happened during first quarter or second quarter either besides registering ourselves on Mastercam.

The Final Countdown

Eric is gone now. His senior duties called him from his station here and now he fights with others from his year, leaving us here to fend for ourselves with this piece of garbage robot that doesn't do anything.
Fortunately Adam was able to pull off the cluchist save in the history of QT Boyz and in one day turned this load of trash into this.
Unfortunately we weren't able to get any pictures of us doing the tug o' war challenge because... well... we didn't do it :/ The robot was finished too late and there wasn't a chance for us to work it after it was done. But we finished the robot so that's got to count for something.
This the last update blog we will be posting, however there will be one more recap blog next week, be on the lookout for it. Adam signing off

Week 13 Goals.

We are behind as usual. Our goal this week is to make our robot go from this:
A mind blowing spectacle of laziness and procrastination
To this:
A robot that has clearly required more than 50 minutes of hard work.

FRIDAYHBLOG POST

we traasheed the idea for the winch adnn just went with a wheel robot instead because it is easier and we are very behind compared 2 the other groups sso to get our grade and be over with it we took the lazy way out
despite this not being in the ENGINEER spirit, we are lazy and it's the last weeks of school. Summer is approaching.

Monday, May 12, 2014

It's monday again.

And you know what that means? The best blogger on EARTH coming at u with another update.
We have disassembled our robot and decided to do a heavy robot with no wheels and a double motor winch. Will this work? we have no idea. It is our job as professional engineers to find out and test it. This is all for fun, we don't care if we win or lose. QTBOYZ 4 LIFE

TODAY WE WILL GET TESTED FOR OUR GRADE: FINALLY.
I HAVENT HAD TEAMMATES FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS SO I'VE JUST WORKED ALONE.
BUT TODAY I WILL FINALLY COMPLETE MY DESTINY.

Monday, May 5, 2014

I come from the future bearing gifts of solidworks
This week we will hopefully, finally, get the ball test done.

Look at that amazingly attractive arm with its basket attach to the end. Adorable. The motor is supposed to spin an axle that will pull the ball into a small basket. If we want it back out we just reverse the motor.

Goals for the week of 4/28

Testing for the challenge is pretty rough, especially since that driving isn't as easy when dropping balls compared to the last task. We each are getting the hang of driving day by day and should soon be ready to test. We are expecting to test sometime this week considering we have batteries THAT KEEP DYING ON US. Dying batteries to use with vex, challenge accepted.

Accomplished this week of 4/25

We are ready to do the next challenge after we figure out a couple bugs that seems to keep slowing us down today. We did find a unique solution to our arm not raising as much by putting our own custom counterweight to the back of it. Arm is working fine, although we took it off to make some quick design adjustments. All we need now is a set of fresh charged batteries and we should be good go.

END OF THE WEEK PROGRESS
After being out for 2 days we have fallen behind but now our robot is programmed and ready to do the test.
We got our motors working with a good counterweight.\

Starting the Balla' Arm

Alright, with this new week we need to finish our new arm, also I have this old solidworks we forgot to post for the tetrahedron arm.
 HD shine
Here's to us not failing.
We're having trouble getting the arm to stay up and the motor keeps copping out after the first lift so we need to fix that.

Thursday, April 17, 2014

We're actually only slightly behind today. May lose the first days amount of points but we're waiting for paul to share his motor with us so we can lift our arm. We may actually get a semi-complete grade for this one.

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Our robotics team has been behind for the entire time due to our bad parts.
But for once in our robotics career, we're not very behind at all.
>SARCASM WE'RE SUPER BEHIND.

Friday, April 11, 2014

QTBOYZ conquered the MOUNTAIN of tetrahedrons and got their 80% grade.
Now we're starting work on picking up our balls
We're running into torque problems but we can muscle through with some GOOD OLD FASHIONED ENGINEER THINKING.

Arm done, charging batteries, can't wait to get our grade
today is the last day and we've barely made it.
stupid robot parts keep failing

ARM ALMOST DONE

we're almost done with the arm and ready to get our 60% grade
if this was a job we'd surely be underpaid
we're behind and stressed but our spirits say strong
we dream about being cute all night long
this robot will get completed if it takes us forever
it's been a long but enjoyable endeavor.

Friday, April 4, 2014

SUCCESS! We've found a new and working motor. Our robot should be able to actually move.
Now we just need to finish the arm and hope we can get more than a 50% on the assignment.
QTBOYZ are back in the game.

Goals for the week of 3/31 and back from spring break

  • We have to complete the arm on our square bot by Wednesday to functionally lift tetrahedrons.
  • Also finish attach our arm to our squarebot in Solidworks
  • Get back into the swing of things after coming back from a week off
Side problems: We found out that our receiver chord is part of the problem of our robot running poorly along with our batteries that don't hold a charge for very long

INSTALLING THE ARM: EXTREMELY BEHIND EDITION

More Future Speak

So we finally finished the squarebot and took the basic competent test.

QT BOYZ ARE REALLY SCREWED

This week we've gotten our robot programmed but we have more engine problems than we can deal with.
It's stressful and repetitive and there is no other motors to be used.
Our goals of this week are to complete this robot, and hopefully not take a zero.
Even if we do take a 0
We're still cute anyways ;)
